Physical Education & Health

Fostering Well-Rounded Individuals Through Physical Education and Health

In the high school curriculum (grades 9-12), the focus expands to include Foundations of Fitness, BLS/CPR and First Aid certification in 9th Grade. The 10th grade curriculum includes Lifetime Sport and "Project Adventure". Students learn to develop and evaluate personal fitness plans, demonstrating critical thinking and self-reflection, and engage in activities that promote lifelong fitness. The Project Adventure component specifically targets group communication and dynamics, trust activities, and problem-solving, which fosters collaboration and civil discourse, key elements of the Promise. The high school health curriculum builds on earlier learning by delving into mental health, substance abuse, and human sexuality, preparing students to be informed and engaged citizens who can make reasoned judgments and advocate for themselves and others. This comprehensive approach ensures that the Physical Education and Health program at Bronxville School is not just about physical activity, but about cultivating the well-rounded qualities and skills outlined in the Bronxville Promise.
